Good for your disposition- Egypt summer sun

A week prior to Christmas my husband and I sailed down the Nile, It was great to get some winter sun. Also As it’s the first year I have not had the dreaded flu bug in years, which I believe is a direct result of gaining some Vitamin D.
They did used to prescribe better climates to improve your disposition, perhaps there is something in it. I will be looking to leave the Great British weather behind next year, if I can convince my better half.
We sailed with Discover Egypt on the Royal Viking. The staffs were lovely and got to know your drink order, the cabin steward was good overall, but what I did like was the animals you find in your room. I will not say more, that but much better than the ocean cruise ships.
Having sailed on the Rhine I had an idea what to expect, however
I was not prepared for the enormity of the River, and the way that life revolves around it today as when the pharaohs were about.
We started on the Wednesday which was great as it lead up to the main tours in Luxor (was known as Thebes) which meant we ended on a high.  The temples and tombs were stunning especially Abu Simbel (an additional excursions) everyday you see something amazing, and the tour guide was the best, it turned out he studied for 4 years to be a guide.

What was fab was all but four excursions were included in the price, the others where optional extras, we took three out of the four, which was Abu Simbel - well worth it.  Karnak temple Sound and light show-out dated and not worth the money, especially as you see the temple in the day.  The hot air balloon ride-which was excellent as you got to see Luxor west bank from above. (It was a shame about recent events).

The activities at night were entertaining and you find yourself getting involved with the games, fancy dress and live entertainment. They made the most of the local dances from over Egypt. Just be ready to get your dancing shoes on!!!!
