Aurora 2 Night Cruise- Bruges

I was recently on the Aurora for a 2 night cruise over to Bruges. It was excellent to be back on board her. Having now sailed on her 3 times I can not help but love her.

This time I was in an outside cabin, rather than a balcony. I opted for this as I like to see what the weather is like, so I can dress accordingly.

The balcony was great last time as we had the little one with us so it was easy to have a drink on the balcony while he was sleeping.

I have been to Bruges a few times before the last was on the NCL Jade a few years back so I knew what to expect.  The best thing about this was;
 I knew not to book the excursions that are £32.00 per person to have a coach transfer into Bruges.  I got the free shuttle that takes you from the dock in Zeebrugge to Blankenberg where I jumped on a train (runs every hour) for 7 Euros for the two of us. It’s easy to walk straight into the centre of Bruges from here which takes less than 10 mins stroll.

We had a great table of 8 on board, we got friendly with a couple that had not booked an excursion so they joined us for the travel into Bruges, then shared a Horse and carriage ride with us which was a great price of 39.00 Euros for the party of 4.

We then went to sample some beer, then went on the canal boat ride; which was very scenic and only cost £15.80 for the two of us.

We also ventured along the flee market by the canal, as everything is central it was easy to fit a lot of things in, as well as the must chocolate shops and sampling of the hot chocolate. This would satisfy any chocoholic.

We got the 3 o'clock train back.

The Food on Board the Aurora was as always excellent with excellent staff, our cabin steward was super (please do not ask me his name as although it was embossed on a panel in the room, I could not read it let alone pronounce it).

I love the shops on board as they always offer great rates, but as it was in Europe the VAT prices still applied on board. Boo hiss!!!!!

You must also remember to take some sterling for the casino on board, so you do not have to pay the fee to exchange, the slots are my favourite  as I would get to carried away with the tables.
