Bonaire was one of my favourite islands, the Dutch Antilles islands never seem to disappoint.
If you enjoy wildlife and water sports you will love the abundance of it all here;
We did not book an excursion as I was informed about a not far from the port and was told about a picturesque little shopping area with a great bar over looking the sea. It was just as described.
It is worth speaking to the crew on board for the best places to go on the islands.
As you can see the ice creams were almost as big as my head!!!! The shopping and the market was good as well. The bar was amazing as a number of parrot fish where swimming about below where I was sitting. It was an incredible site, I hoped but did not expect to.
Bonaire has a 18 mile coral reef that invites such abundance of wildlife like the parrot fish, white mullet, trumpet fish and yellow tail snappers to name but a few. The reefs and the volcanic rock have left many interesting features for the divers to discover, in amongst the grottoes and caves. By the beach there is coral everywhere.
There is still the opportunity to include water sports onto your day if you wish
Bonaire’s landscape ranges from barren rocky hills, salt pans and green parklands with freshwater lakes and reserves this offers many fantastic wildlife to stubble along including Flamingos and Parrots of the feathery kind, this lizard was just sunbathing by where we docked
